About Adam
Update: At Amazon.com, Adam’s new album is available for pre-order for $9.99. The release date is November 24.
Adam Lambert rose to fame early on as an “American Idol” contestant during Season 8 of American Idol. He placed 2nd in the competition but went on to enjoy a wild frenzy of fame that seems to gain momentum with each passing month. Lambert has been compared to music icons of genres from punk and rock-n-roll all the way to pop.
He has earned devotion from fans of all backgrounds, ages, and musical preferences with a unique and powerful voice, style of dress reminiscent of the Cure, yet with baby blues and a sly smile that has earned him repeated comparisons to Elvis Presley. However—the Adam Lambert mania reverberating from coast to coast is less a result of these elements than it is a reflection of Adam’s remarkable ability to take any song from any genre and give it an outrageous Lambert twist.
Less visible in the early shows, Adam became a judge and audience favorite following his ultra original rendition of “Can’t Get No Satisfaction” that left audiences and judges wanting more of his incredible vocal range, wild screams in just the right parts of the song, and superior ability to work the stage and rile the audience. Following this performance, Simon said that Adam is in a league of his own. And boy, was he ever right!
Born January 29, 1982, Lambert is an actor and singer from Los Angeles. He also spent time in San Diego as a child, performing in “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” in the famous Lyceum Theater at the young age of 10. He played Linus, Charlie Brown’s best friend. More recently, his stage experience included a role as the understudy for Fiyero in the cast of “Wicked.” His stage experience is obvious—as is his raw talent.
Videos of Adam that have surfaced all over Internet show that Adam is not just a talented singer. He’s a real guy with a down-to-earth perspective on people, life, and himself. In talking about his life before Idol, he explained the “hussle” of the entertainment industry in Los Angeles and how he worked in retail as he tried to get gigs. He mentions that he’d hand people jeans and help them with their sizes. During the most inspiring and heartfelt part of a video released during mid-season 8 of American Idol, Lambert explained that during this period of his life, he felt that “something “wasn’t clicking.” In his words, “It was like, is this it? Is this me? Is this my life?” He felt there was something else he was supposed to do. It was this state that lead him to try out for American Idol under pressure from his “Wicked” cast members.
There is no doubt that Adam Lambert has found exactly what he’s suppose to be doing—rocking millions of fans and causing a sensation rarely inspired even by top American Idol contestants. Lambert mania has taken American music lovers by storm, and as far as his fans are concerned, the sooner he releases his first CD, the better. His debut album is set for a November 24 release, and within 3 days of being available for pre-orders, it shot to #1 on Amazon’s Bestseller’s List. Numerous articles have described the album as a fusion of many various styles.
